present作形容詞表示“出席的，到場的”“存在的，含有的”時在句中主要用作表語，偶爾用作定語，一般須后置。表示“現在的，目前的，現行的”“正在處理或討論中的”時只用作前置定語。present無比較級和最高級。

present搭配

1、at present，for the present都屬于固定搭配格式，不能修改成at the present，in present等其他格式。前者指“現在”，后者指“暫時”。

2、at present同presently意思不同，但前者常用于現在時，表示“目前”，后者則常用于將來時，表示“一會兒”。

3、present和gift的比較：present指“禮物”，但gift可以不是“禮物”。Birthday/Christmas gift中，gift屬于禮物。在別人需要而將東西送給他時，如一本舊書或是把書捐給圖書館，都屬于gift，但不算送“禮”。

4、表示“把…送給（某人)”的幾種說法：

He presented a book to her.他向她贈送一本書。

值得注意的是，present作動詞時，很少有雙賓語。

5、present作形容詞時，常用于名詞后，指“出席的”。

There are other people present.還有其他人出席。

present的有關用法

(1) n.禮物；禮品

I bought a birthday present for my mother.

我給母親買了一份生日禮物。

(2)vt. 頒發；授予；呈獻；呈遞

Prince Michael of Kent presented the prizes.

肯特親王邁克爾頒發了獎品。

(3) vt.引起；導致；帶來；提供

This presents a problem for many financial consumers.

這給很多金融消費者帶來了一個問題。

(4) vt.（機會或問題）產生，意外出現

A further obstacle has presented itself, however.

然而，突然又出現了一個障礙。

(5) 呈現；展示；陳述

We presented three options to the unions for discussion.

我們向工會提供了3種選擇供討論。

(6) vt.描述；形容

The government has presented these changes as major reforms.

政府將這些變化描述為重大的改革。
