over與above譯為“在...上面時，區別在于所表示的空間不同。over主要用于某物垂直高于另一物，指向上方，其反義詞是under，表示垂直且不接觸表面的下方。above主要描述在上方擴展空間中，兩個物體不是垂直關系，其反義詞是below，表示非垂直且不接觸表面的下方。

above和over用法區別

1、兩個詞均可用作“高過……；比……高”。

句子1：The water came up above/over our knees．(水沒過了我們的雙膝。)

句子2：Can you see the helicopter above/over the palace？(你能看見宮殿上空的那架直升機嗎？)

2、當作“覆蓋”（covering）和“越過”時，通常用over。

句子1：The plane was flying over Denmark．(飛機當時正飛越丹麥。)

3、在與數字、數量或量詞短語一起用時，較常用over（=more than）。
